SRINAGAR: Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday directed security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to remain fully prepared during the winter months to prevent infiltration attempts across the border under the cover of snowfall. He was chairing a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the security situation in the Union Territory.

The Home Minister stressed that militants often exploit harsh weather and low visibility during winter to infiltrate, and instructed forces to maintain constant vigilance and close coordination to foil such attempts.

Reiterating the Modi Government’s unwavering commitment to a militancy-free Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said that the terrorist network nurtured by the enemies of the nation has been “almost eliminated” through the determined efforts of the security agencies.

He appreciated the local administration and security forces for their swift response following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, saying their coordinated actions have helped reinforce the security landscape of the region.
