Floodwaters crack Chersoo bund, police rescue trapped family

Awantipora, Sep 06: Cracks developed around a bund at Katipora Chersoo in Awantipora on Saturday following rising floodwaters, prompting immediate intervention from police and civil authorities.

Officials said a police team led by SDPO Awantipora, along with SHO Awantipora, in-charge Police Post Toll Plaza and local administration, rushed to the spot and after hectic efforts managed to safely shift a family residing close to the bund.

The timely evacuation averted a possible tragedy and ensured the safety of the affected family. Authorities have urged residents living near vulnerable embankments to remain cautious and assured that continuous monitoring and support will be extended. [KNT]
