AIP to seek court’s nod for Er Rashid’s participation in Vice Presidential election

Srinagar, Aug 28: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) has announced that it will formally move an application through its legal counsel to seek permission for its President and Member Parliament Baramulla, Er Rashid, to participate in the upcoming Vice Presidential election scheduled for 9th September 2025.

In a statement issued here, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, who is currently in Delhi, said, “We have asked our counsel to apply before the competent court for necessary permission enabling our President and MP Baramulla, Er Rashid, to participate in the Vice Presidential election.

It is both his democratic right and constitutional duty as a Member of Parliament to be part of the electoral process.” In this context, Chairman Parliamentary Affairs Committee of AIP and MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed met Er Rashid’s counsel, Advocate Vikhyat Oberoi, in Delhi to deliberate on the legal strategy and ensure timely filing of the application. Inam further added that AIP expects the authorities to facilitate the same in the spirit of democracy and constitutional propriety.
