SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora have seized two vehicles allegedly involved in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals in the Khrew area of Pulwama district.
According to officials, a police team from Police Station Khrew, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), intercepted and seized two tippers bearing registration numbers JK13B-4411 and JK01AT-7704. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal mining in the region.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 62/2025 at Police Station Khrew under relevant provisions of law. Authorities confirmed that a formal investigation into the matter has been initiated.
The seizure comes amid increased enforcement against unauthorised mining operations, which officials say pose environmental risks and violate legal protocols.
