SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank has elevated two senior executives, Sunit Kumar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, to the rank of Chief General Managers (CGMs), reinstating the top-tier management designation after more than two decades. The move is part of a larger career progression exercise aimed at strengthening the bank’s leadership pipeline and recognising internal talent.
Sunit Kumar, previously Divisional Head (Jammu), and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, who headed the Strategy and IT vertical, both joined the bank as probationary officers in 1989 and bring decades of strategic and operational experience.
In addition, nine Deputy General Managers (DGMs) have been promoted to General Managers (GMs), including Tariq Ali, Khursheed Muzaffar, Arshad Qadri, Rakesh Magotra, Ajay Kohli, Ashok Gupta, Nishikant Sharma, Mohammad Muzaffar Wani, and Altaf Hussain Kira.
MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee congratulated the promoted officers and emphasised the significance of reintroducing the CGM level. “It is a proud moment for us to see our own officers rise through the ranks to take up leadership positions. Reintroducing the CGM post is part of our broader strategy to strengthen succession planning and enhance our leadership bandwidth,” he said.
He noted that the move aligns with the bank’s vision to expand its business and geographical footprint, adding, “We require stronger leadership at the top to drive growth and regulatory objectives with greater focus.”
