Srinagar, July 19: Vishwa Hindu Samaj, Zaara Foundation, and prominent members of the Kashmiri Pandit community have warmly welcomed the beginning of restoration and rebuilding work at the historically revered Vicharnag Temple in Srinagar. The work was formally initiated by Chief Secretary Atal Dullu ji and Akshay Labroo Ji, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar.
In a press statement issued to the Greater Kashmir, Kiran Wattal of Vishwa Hindu Samaj and Amit Raina of Zaara Foundation expressed their gratitude to the UT Government for taking this significant step to revive an important spiritual and cultural landmark.
Kiran Wattal also extended heartfelt thanks to the former Governor of Haryana, Bandaru Dattatreya ji, for playing a pivotal role in ensuring the start of restoration efforts. Dattatreya ji, during a function organized by Vishwa Hindu Samaj at Vicharnag last year, had assured devotees of his commitment to support the temple’s restoration and has since used his good offices to help make it a reality, it reads.
Amit Raina further acknowledged and thanked hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for his personal interest and involvement in facilitating the grant necessary for the temple’s renovation.
It further reads that this restoration marks an important milestone in the preservation of Kashmir’s rich religious and cultural heritage, and the community looks forward to the completion of the project with great reverence.
