SRINAGAR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday hailed the security agencies for the recent military operation against Pakistan under Operation Sindoor, in which several terrorist camps were targeted inside Pakistani territory.

As quoted by ANI, the Defence Minister said, “The world is looking at our defence sector. The valour our soldiers displayed during Operation Sindoor, along with the way we showcased the capabilities of our domestic equipment, has led to increased demand for our indigenous defence products.”

Singh also said that India’s defence budget is larger than the overall GDP of many countries in the world. He further noted that global military expenditure rose to over USD 2.7 trillion in 2024 and that a significant market awaits India.

“If you look at our defence budget, it’s bigger than the GDP of several countries. When a significant portion of people’s hard earned money is allocated to the Defence Ministry, our responsibility increases. We will also utilise it in the right way,” Singh added.

It is pertinent to mention that India’s current defence budget stands at USD 78.3 billion.
