Four Held, Vehicles Seized for Illegal Mineral Extraction in South Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam seized four vehicles and arrested four individuals involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

A police team, headed by the Incharge Police Post Mirbazar, seized two tippers and two tractors at a checkpoint established at Akhran. “The vehicles were allegedly being used to extract and transport minerals illegally from Nallah Vaishow. All four drivers were arrested on the spot. A case under FIR No. 134/2025 has been registered at Police Station Qazigund under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway,” police said.

Police have urged community members to report any illegal mineral-related activity in their areas to enable prompt action against violators.
