Srinagar, Jun 28: The Jammu & Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association, Kashmir Division, Saturday expressed profound grief over the demise of Muhammad Ashraf Malla, Block Accounts Manager of Block Tangdar in district Kupwara, who passed away on Saturday at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.
Malla had sustained critical injuries in a road accident at Sadhna Top on June 21, 2025.
Despite sustained efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.
His demise has sent shockwaves through the NHM fraternity across Kashmir.
In a statement, the NHM Employees Association termed the passing of Malla as an “irreparable loss to the entire NHM family.”
Remembering him as a dedicated professional and a noble soul, the association highlighted his unwavering compassion and commitment to the underprivileged and voiceless.
Condolence meetings were held across hospitals and health offices throughout Kashmir on Saturday to pay homage to the departed soul.
The association prayed for eternal peace to Malla and a place for him in Jannat-ul-Firdous.
A large number of NHM employees and members of the association participated in the Namaz-e-Janaza at his ancestral village in Hathlango, Sopore.
Later in the day, a delegation of the J&K NHM Employees Association Kashmir (JKNHMEAK) led by President Muneer Andrabi visited the residence of the deceased to express solidarity with the bereaved family.
He urged the Mission Director NHM to expedite the release of ex-gratia relief to the bereaved family on a fast-track basis.
