Amarnath Yatra 2025: Multi-Layer Security Grid Activated in Ganderbal

SRINAGAR: Ahead of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra scheduled to begin on July 3, Ganderbal Police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalil Ahmed Poswal, on Saturday said that a multi-layered security plan has been implemented to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

SSP Poswal, while addressing the media, said that extensive planning and coordination efforts are underway to manage the expected influx of pilgrims.

“A multi-tier security setup has been established in close coordination with the Army, CRPF, ITBP, BSF and other security agencies. Strategic deployments have been made, particularly along the Baltal axis, which is a key entry route,” he said.

He added that surveillance systems, mobile patrol units, and real-time monitoring tools have been integrated into the security grid. “Our priority is the safety and convenience of every pilgrim. We urge all devotees to follow instructions and cooperate with the security personnel,” SSP Poswal said.

Alongside ground deployments, the security forces have increased their presence in higher and sensitive areas. Joint teams of Jammu and Kashmir Police, BSF, CRPF, SOG, and Army have launched area domination and sanitisation operations in various parts of Ganderbal district. These include census of dhoks (seasonal highland shelters), identification of transhumant tribal populations, and search operations in remote and vulnerable areas.

Specific areas under increased surveillance include Mohand Marg, Gangbal, Trankhul, Walkwan, Bishansar, Khilanmarg, Akhal, and Badimarg, where combing operations are being conducted to pre-empt any potential threats.

The district administration and security agencies reiterated their commitment to providing a safe, secure, and orderly pilgrimage experience to all devotees. (KNO)
