6 more persons admitted to GMC, 12 treated locally

Rajouri, Jun 28: Six more patients from Dhar Sakri village of Rajouri were hospitalised in Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri taking total number of patients hospitalised so far to 26.

Twelve villagers have also been treated and administered fluid in a temporary health centre established in the village school.

In Dhar Sakri village of Rajouri, located at a distance of around 30 kilometres from Rajouri district headquarter, patients with gastroenteritis complaining of diarrhoea have been reported in last four days with health department has established it to be a case of E-coli based bacterial contamination of water.

Chief Medical Officer Rajouri, Dr Manohar Lal Rana, who is also camping in the village, said that the total number of patients hospitalized in GMC Rajouri so far is 26 with 12 patients are still under treatment while others stand discharged while three referred to GMC Jammu for nephrological consultation.

Dr Rana also informed that a temporary health centre has been established in the village school where a dedicated team of doctors is medically examining the villagers and twelve of them were kept under day long medical observation and also administered IV fluids.

Meanwhile, a woman from the affected hamlet died on Saturday morning with health department has termed it be a death due to other medical issues but not gastroenteritis. The CMO said that the aged woman Bidya Devi was suffering with various chronic illnesses and died on Saturday early morning but it is not a case linked with gastroenteritis.
