Srinagar, Jun 24: With schools closed for the summer break across Jammu and Kashmir, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) has issued a detailed advisory urging students to stay physically active, mentally engaged, and nutritionally aware during the holidays.

The advisory, as per a statement issued on Tuesday, encourages students to utilise the holiday period for relaxation while also engaging in productive and health-conscious activities.

The key recommendations of the advisory include incorporating sports, aerobics, stretching, dancing, or any fitness activity into daily routines.  Maintaining proper hydration by drinking adequate water throughout the day. Consuming a balanced diet rich in nutrients. Eating seasonal fruits and preserving seeds for monsoon sowing.

The advisory adds that one should maintain a personal diary or notebook to record daily activities.

The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports has urged physical education lecturers, masters, and teachers to actively support students in adopting a healthy lifestyle. Joint Directors of both the divisions and District Youth Services and Sports Officers have been directed to oversee the implementation of these guidelines.

“The advisory is issued considering the holistic development of children and youth, ensuring they remain active, creative, and mindful of their well-being even during academic breaks,” said Anuradha Gupta, Director General of the Department.
