DySP Probationary officer dies due to cardiac arrest in north Kashmir’s Langate

Kupwara, Jun 22: Deputy Superintendent of Police (Probationary) Aamir Amin Bhat (JKAS), a young and promising officer from Ujroo, Langate of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, passed away on Saturday afternoon due to a sudden cardiac arrest.

A pall of gloom descended in whole area after the news of his death unfolded and people were seen rushing towards his residence. Aamir had recently qualified the prestigious JKAS examination in 2024 and was considered a bright and dedicated officer with a promising future in public service.

A senior Police officer told Greater Kashmir that the deceased suffered a massive heart attack, which proved fatal.

Locals of the area said that Amir was known for his humble nature, commitment to duty, and academic excellence. Family sources told that he had recently passed training from Udhampur Police Academy and was ready to be posted soon.

“He had come for vacations on Eid,” said one of his neighbour.

Condolences have poured in from across the region, with colleagues, friends, and civil society mourning the loss of a young, dynamic officer. His death is being widely described as a great loss to the district and the Union Territory at large.

Hundreds participated in the funeral prayers of the young officer while Handwara Police provided him a Guard of Honour. He was laid to rest with full respect at his native village Ujroo in Langate. His elder brother Danish Amin has also qualified the prestigious JKAS in 2023.
