SRINAGAR: Three people were killed and two others injured after a car collided with a truck on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Nagrota area of Jammu during the early hours of Sunday, according to a report by Daily Excelsior.

The accident took place at around 2.15 am in the Jagti-Karli area of Nagrota, leaving the car extensively damaged, Daily Excelsior reported, quoting officials.

Officials said two occupants of the car died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries at the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu.

The deceased were identified as Sikander Saifi, Shakti and Mohit Verma, all residents of Haryana.

Two other occupants of the vehicle, identified as Deepak Verma and Kuldeep Sharma, sustained injuries and were admitted to GMC Jammu for treatment, according to officials cited by Daily Excelsior.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and are investigating the circumstances leading to the collision.
