SRINAGAR: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, on Sunday inaugurated a New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Challyan in the Chrari Sharief constituency, marking a boost to local healthcare infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated facility is expected to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the area by improving access to basic medical services for the local population.
Following the inauguration, the Speaker addressed a public gathering and highlighted the government’s ongoing development initiatives aimed at improving socio-economic conditions across the region. He said the administration remains focused on ensuring equitable development with priority given to essential sectors.
He stated that health, roads, education, power, and drinking water continue to receive sustained attention, adding that the establishment of the NTPHC reflects efforts to ensure that residents do not have to travel long distances for basic medical care.
Recalling the earlier establishment of the health centre in 1979–80, he said the development of infrastructure over the years had significantly improved access to essential services in the constituency.
The Speaker also referred to various government welfare schemes and urged people to actively benefit from them. He assured continued acceleration of infrastructure projects to improve living standards and strengthen public services.
The event was attended by the Chief Medical Officer Budgam, senior administrative officials, representatives from the health department, and prominent citizens.
