Indian Army organises medical, veterinary camp in remote Lolab village amid Eid-ul-Adha festivities

Kupwara, May 28: In a humanitarian outreach initiative amid Eid-ul-Adha festivities, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry, organised a medical and veterinary camp in the remote village of Dardpora in Lolab Valley of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The initiative was organised in view of the festive occasion and the seasonal migration of Gujjar, Bakarwal and Pahadi families towards upper reaches along with their livestock.

A large number of residents, particularly women and young girls, attended the camp and availed healthcare facilities. Locals appreciated the presence of a woman Army doctor, which enabled women from conservative backgrounds to seek medical consultation comfortably.

Besides healthcare services for villagers, the veterinary team examined and treated livestock, a key source of livelihood for many families in the area. Free medicines were also distributed among patients and livestock owners during the programme.

Residents described the initiative as timely support during the festive period. “The camp came at an important time when families are preparing for Eid celebrations and seasonal migration to higher grazing areas. Our Rashtriya Rifles unit has always supported us in times of need,” a local resident said.

Women participants also expressed gratitude for the medical assistance and said the outreach reflected concern for people living in far-flung areas.

Officials said the joint initiative by the Indian Army and the civil administration aimed at strengthening coordination and public outreach in the remote frontier region of Lolab.
