SRINAGAR: A 40-year-old shepherd was critically injured in a bear attack in the Gagrian area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday while he was grazing cattle, officials said.
Health officials at a local medical facility said the injured man, identified as Mahmood Ahmad, son of Mohammad Akbar, was received with multiple injuries on his foot, head and wrist.
“He was given initial treatment here and referred to District Hospital Poonch for specialised care,” a health official said.
Following the incident, residents expressed concern over increasing wildlife movement in human habitations and demanded urgent action for the capture or management of wild animals in the area.
