Aparna S. Sharma, Joint Secretary, Department of Fertilisers said the government is taking multiple steps to ensure smooth fertiliser supply and prevent shortages amid rising global prices. Speaking in Delhi, she said surplus ammonia produced by urea companies is being redirected to PNK fertiliser companies for efficient use. Sharma added that the government will continue subsidy support to maintain the liquidity of fertiliser companies, with allocations of ₹1.77 lakh crore this financial year. She also noted that urea prices have nearly doubled globally. State-level measures are also being intensified to prevent hoarding, misuse, and black marketing of fertilisers.
