
SRINAGAR: A three-year-old child was killed in a road accident on the Sopore–Bandipora Bypass road in north Kashmir on Thursday morning, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m., triggering panic and grief in the area, with local residents gathering at the scene soon after the accident.
Officials said the child sustained critical injuries and died on the spot or shortly thereafter. The identity of the minor had not been officially disclosed at the time of filing this report.
The accident reportedly involved an Army vehicle travelling along the bypass stretch when the child came under the vehicle under circumstances that are being investigated.
Police reached the spot shortly after the incident and took cognisance of the matter. Officials said legal formalities have been initiated and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the accident. (KNT)
