Srinagar, May 06: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Wednesday said it attached immovable property belonging to a Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK)-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative in connection with a major narco-terror case linked to cross-border terror financing and drug smuggling.
In a statement, the agency, as per Alfaaz – The Words, said the action pertains to FIR No. 03/2023 of Police Station ANTF, initially registered by the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and later transferred to SIA Kashmir for specialised investigation in view of larger terror financing and cross-border narco-terror ramifications that surfaced during the probe.
The statement said investigations revealed that accused Zameer Ahmad Lone, son of Ahmad Gul Lone of Mandiyan Keran in Kupwara district, presently operating from PoJK and affiliated with the banned terror outfit LeT, was actively involved in narco-terror activities aimed at disturbing peace and security in the Union Territory.
According to SIA, the accused had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender by a competent court for evading arrest and continuing anti-national activities from across the border.
The agency said that following a detailed application filed before the competent court, the court examined the material placed on record and subsequently ordered attachment of the property belonging to the absconding accused.
“In compliance with the court orders, SIA Kashmir today attached immovable property measuring one kanal and 14.37 marlas falling under Khasra No. 113 situated at Mandiyan Keran, Kupwara,” the statement said.
It added that the attachment proceedings were carried out by a specialised SIA team in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and local revenue officials in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
The statement further said that SIA Kashmir had earlier filed a comprehensive chargesheet before the competent court after uncovering substantial evidence relating to narco-smuggling, terror financing and cross-border terror links in the case.
