
SRINAGAR: A Five-year-old boy drowned in the Rambiara River near Dubjan in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday, officials said.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Dabhan locality when the child accidentally slipped into the river and was swept away.
Following the incident, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Shopian launched a rescue and search operation to trace the minor, identified as Nigar Ahmad Turrey, son of Abdul Hamid Turrey and a resident of Tiken, Pulwama.
Efforts to retrieve the child were underway at the time of filing this report.
