SRINAGAR: Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Rajouri, on Wednesday led a special enforcement drive to ensure strict adherence to road safety norms, with a particular focus on the safety of school children.

During the crackdown, authorities seized 20 vehicles, including six private vehicles found illegally transporting school children in violation of prescribed safety regulations.

Officials issued 11 challans against offenders for multiple violations, recovering fines amounting to Rs 1 lakh. Additionally, four driving licences were recommended for suspension due to serious breaches of traffic rules.

The Motor Vehicles Department reiterated its commitment to road safety and urged vehicle owners to comply with traffic regulations, stating that such enforcement drives will continue to enhance safety for all road users.
