SRINAGAR: Police in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have attached a double-storey residential house valued at 32.19 lakh in the Lalhar area of Kakapora.
Officials said the property belongs to convicted narcotics offender Ab Hamid Bhat, also known as Hamid Puj, son of Mohd Ismail, a resident of Lalhar Kakapora. The action is linked to FIR No. 42/2018 registered at Police Station Kakapora under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act.
They said the accused has already been convicted by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Pulwama, and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
During investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, the house was identified as having been acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Following due legal process, it has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Authorities said the attachment was carried out on the spot in the presence of police personnel and independent witnesses after completion of all procedural formalities.
Police said the action reflects a zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and reaffirmed their commitment to targeting both offenders and assets generated through narcotics-related crimes. They also urged the public to share information regarding drug abuse and trafficking to help curb the menace.
