Youth of J&K excelling in different fields, shaping UT’s future: VP  Radhakrishnan

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday lauded the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for excelling across diverse fields, stating that their achievements are shaping the future of the Union Territory and reflecting a progressive direction.

Addressing a 250-member youth delegation from Jammu and Kashmir participating in the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ programme organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Vice President highlighted significant strides in women’s development and empowerment in the region.

He said that the increasing leadership of women in education, along with notable sporting achievements by young cricketers, underscores a positive transformation taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.

Referring to recent sporting success, Radhakrishnan noted that the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team had won the Ranji Trophy for the first time, calling it a reflection of the growing talent and determination among the youth of the Union Territory.

The Vice President also expressed satisfaction over the academic accomplishments of students from Jammu and Kashmir, noting their success in competitive examinations such as Civil Services, IITs, and IIMs.

The ‘Watan Ko Jano’ programme, jointly organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Jammu and Kashmir administration, aims to promote national integration by enabling youth from the Union Territory to visit and explore different parts of the country.

Describing Jammu and Kashmir as a region endowed with extraordinary scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage, Radhakrishnan said it holds immense potential to emerge as a major global tourist destination.

“As opportunities expand in education, technology, tourism, and entrepreneurship, each young person has the potential to become a builder of a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive future,” he said.

Encouraging the youth, the Vice President urged them to remain connected to their roots while striving for excellence and contributing collectively towards building a harmonious and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.

He emphasised that the energy, talent, and aspirations of young people will play a crucial role in transforming the Union Territory into a symbol of growth, stability, and inspiration for the nation.
