SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Thursday said Jammu and Kashmir has sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel and LPG, along with supplies in transit, to withstand any potential disruption in supply chains due to the evolving geopolitical situation in West Asia.

Chairing a high-level review meeting with administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners and district officials, Dulloo assessed the availability and distribution of essential commodities across the Union Territory and directed authorities to maintain strict vigilance to prevent hoarding, overpricing and black marketing.

Officials informed the meeting that both Jammu and Kashmir divisions currently have stable fuel reserves. Jammu Division has over 7,300 KL of petrol and 27,000 KL of diesel, along with 47,000 LPG cylinders in stock, while Kashmir Division holds over 7,700 KL of petrol, 13,400 KL of diesel and more than 4,000 metric tonnes of LPG, ensuring reserve cover ranging from 16 to 21 days.

The Chief Secretary stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted supply to commercial and industrial sectors, calling for 70 percent allocation as per guidelines, and directed authorities to bridge gaps between LPG demand and delivery.

He also ordered intensified awareness campaigns, strict inspections, and monitoring of market prices to curb any attempts to exploit the situation. District administrations were asked to ensure seamless last-mile delivery of essential supplies, particularly in remote areas.

Reviewing grievance redressal mechanisms, Dulloo directed officials to promptly address public complaints registered through helplines and ensure transparency in distribution.

Reassuring the public, the Chief Secretary said the UT is fully prepared with adequate reserves and that there is no cause for panic, as existing stocks and ongoing supplies are sufficient to maintain normalcy across Jammu and Kashmir.
