SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for taking nearly a month to unequivocally condemn Israel’s attack on Iran, describing the delay as “disheartening”.
Her remarks came after Omar Abdullah, speaking in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, condemned the “unjust and illegal war imposed on Iran” and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene diplomatically to help end the conflict in the interest of humanity.
Abdullah also expressed condolences over the loss of lives, including Iranian leadership figures, and those killed in the ongoing conflict.

She further pointed out that the Punjab Assembly had acted earlier by passing a resolution condemning the conflict and expressing solidarity with Iran, while alleging that the Jammu and Kashmir government had not shown similar urgency or clarity, limiting its response to statements instead of a firm stand.
The developments come against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly around Iran and the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.
