Pulwama, Mar 16: Police on Monday attached four properties worth more than one crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler under the provisions of Section 68-F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Officials said the action was taken after an investigation revealed that the accused had acquired the properties through proceeds generated from illegal drug trafficking.
The attached assets include an under-construction house, a residential house and an automobile service station, among other properties.
According to police, the attachment was carried out following due legal process as part of an ongoing crackdown against drug peddlers and the networks involved in the narcotics trade.
Authorities said the move is aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure that sustains drug trafficking in the region.
Police said such actions are intended to ensure that individuals involved in drug trafficking do not benefit from proceeds earned through illegal activities. They added that the drive against the drug menace will continue and more such actions are expected in the coming days.
