Rs 195.96 Cr Sanctioned Under MGNREGA for Rural Works, Staff Honorarium in Jammu Kashmir  | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: The Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayati Raj Department have sanctioned a total outlay of Rs 195.96 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act to strengthen rural infrastructure development and ensure timely honorarium payments to programme staff across Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Order No. 79-JK (RD and PR) of 2026, issued by Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the government has sanctioned the release of Rs 174 crore under the material component of MGNREGA for the financial year 2025–26 to support the execution of rural development works.

In a separate Government Order No. 76-JK (RD and PR) of 2026, the department also approved Rs 21.58 crore towards honorarium for staff engaged in implementing the scheme for the period November 2025 to March 2026.

Additionally, an amount of Rs 38.57 lakh has been sanctioned as honorarium for court case staff handling legal matters related to the programme during the same period.

Officials said the release of funds is expected to strengthen the implementation of rural development initiatives and accelerate the pace of infrastructure works under MGNREGA across the Union Territory.

Secretary Mohammad Aijaz Asad stated that the timely availability of funds would help ensure smooth execution of projects and improve the functioning of the scheme at the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Javid Ahmad Dar expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Rural Development for the timely release of a major portion of funds under MGNREGA for Jammu and Kashmir.
