
SRINAGAR: National Conference Additional General Secretary Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Saturday called for imbibing the teachings of Guru Ravidas to build a harmonious and just society based on equality, compassion and mutual respect.
Sadhotra was addressing a congregation organised in connection with the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas by the Guru Ravidas Satsang Society Karwanda in the Jammu North Assembly constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Sadhotra said the life and message of Guru Ravidas continue to inspire humanity to strive for a social order founded on justice, brotherhood and dignity for all.
He said the teachings of the saint hold great relevance in contemporary times when society needs to reaffirm the values of love, compassion and harmony.
“Guru Ravidas devoted his life to spreading the message of equality and social justice. His teachings remind us that all human beings are equal and deserve respect and dignity,” Sadhotra said.
Highlighting the spiritual and social philosophy of the saint, he said Guru Ravidas advocated a society free from discrimination and prejudice where people live together in peace and mutual understanding.
“The message of Guru Ravidas transcends barriers of caste, creed and religion. His vision was of a just and equitable social order where everyone enjoys equal opportunities,” he added.
Sadhotra said the ideals preached by the saint are particularly significant at a time when societies across the world are striving to strengthen harmony and coexistence.
“By following the path shown by Guru Ravidas, we can strengthen unity and promote a culture of tolerance and compassion,” he said.
He urged people, especially the younger generation, to draw inspiration from the teachings of the saint and incorporate them into their daily lives.
Referring to the growing need for social cohesion, Sadhotra said the teachings of saints and reformers serve as a moral compass for building an inclusive society and creating an environment where peace and understanding prevail.
On the occasion, Swami Gurdip Giri also addressed the gathering and highlighted the teachings of Guru Ravidas, saying the saint’s philosophy emphasises devotion, humility and service to humanity.
He urged devotees to follow the path of truth and righteousness shown by Guru Ravidas and work collectively for the welfare and upliftment of society.
Other speakers also stressed the importance of strengthening social unity and promoting the values of brotherhood and compassion advocated by the saint.
The congregation paid tributes to Guru Ravidas and prayed for peace, harmony, prosperity, equality and justice in society.
Among those present on the occasion were Ved Prakash Sharma, Sandeep Singh Manhas, Charan Dass, Bishan Lal Chalgotra, Kulwant Manhas, Ashok Kumar Bhagat, Balram Singh, Ashish Sharma, Satpal Sharma, Lal Chand Bhagat, Nazir Ahmed, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Madan Lal.
Sadhotra also appreciated the efforts of Parshotam Kumar and his team for organising the anniversary celebrations and thanked Swami Gurdip Giri for delivering a spiritual discourse and attending the event.
