
Srinagar: In view of the prevailing situation, the Baramulla Police on Saturday issued an advisory to all media houses, journalists, social media users, digital platforms and the general public, urging them to exercise utmost responsibility while reporting and sharing information.
In the advisory, police stressed that any news related to law and order or public gatherings must be verified through official and credible sources before publication or broadcast. It cautioned that circulation of rumours, unverified reports or speculative content could create unnecessary panic and disturb public peace.
The media fraternity has been requested to refrain from sensationalism and rely solely on official updates issued by the authorities.
Police further warned that any individual or entity found involved in spreading misinformation or rumours will face legal action as per the law.
Emphasising the importance of responsible reporting and information sharing, the advisory stated that maintaining peace and harmony is a collective responsibility and appealed to citizens to contribute positively towards this end.
