Minor rejig in J&K Prisons Department

Jammu, Mar 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday effected a minor rejig in the J&K Prisons Department and ordered transfers and postings, with immediate effect.

As per an order issued by Principal Secretary J&K Home department, Chandraker Bharti, on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor on March 2, 2026, senior Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) officer Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, presently posted as Superintendent Central Jail, Srinagar, has been repatriated to his parent department, viz., J&K Police Department, in the interest of administration, with immediate effect.

Bharti, on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor, has also ordered the deputation of three other senior JKPS officers of J&K Police Department to the J&K Prisons Department.

These officers included SP, DYCO 24 IR Bn Ch Iftkhar Ahmed; SP, DYCO 6 IR Bn Rayaz Iqbal Tantray and SP, DYCO 2 IR Bn Aejaz Ahmad Malik.

Consequent to their repatriation and deputation, the transfers and postings of six officers, including newly deputed officers, have been ordered with immediate effect in the J&K Prisons Department.

Ch Iftkhar Ahmed, SP, DYCO 24 IR Bn, on his deputation to the Prisons Department, has been posted as Superintendent Jail, District Jail, Poonch.

Rayaz Iqbal Tantray, SP, DYCO 6 IR Bn, on his deputation to the Prisons Department, has been posted as Superintendent Jail, District Jail, Anantnag.

Aejaz Ahmad Malik, SP, DYCO 2 IR Bn, on his deputation to the Prisons Department, has been posted as Superintendent Jail, Special Jail, Pulwama.

Saba Shawl, Superintendent Jail, working as Staff Officer to DGP, Prisons, J&K, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent Jail, Central Jail, Srinagar.

Mushtaq Ahmad Malla, Superintendent Jail, District Jail, Anantnag, has been transferred and posted as Staff Officer to DGP, Prisons, J&K.

Sunil Kumar, DySP, deputed vide G O No 83-Home of 2026 dated February 2, 2026 to the Prisons Department, J&K has been posted as Superintendent Jail, District Jail, Kishtwar.
