“It is a matter of great joy for all of us. Reaching the final after 67 years is historic,” Rasool said.

He said winning the toss and opting to bat gave the team early control of the match. Jammu and Kashmir posted more than 570 runs in the first innings, with contributions from across the batting line up.

“Scoring 570 plus runs put us in a strong position,” he said.

Rasool praised captain RK Nair for his consistency this season, saying he stepped up whenever the side was under pressure. He also highlighted Nair’s spell in which he claimed two wickets in two balls.

Reflecting on the team’s progress, Rasool said Jammu and Kashmir’s performance graph has risen steadily since 2013. The team has reached the quarterfinals three times in recent years and missed out by one run last season.

“This year we have done well in the semifinal and are showing a dominant performance in the final,” he said.

He also said that while several players are featuring in leagues, winning the Ranji Trophy remains a major achievement.

“This shows there is immense talent in Jammu and Kashmir. In the coming years, we can produce players who will represent the country,” Rasool added. (KNS)
