
Kupwara, Feb 24: The district-level Volleyball Championship commenced on Tuesday at Natnussa area of Kupwara district.
The championship is being organised under the banner of the League of Classics (Youth Engagement Programme), witnessing enthusiastic participation from young players across the district.
A total of 240 players representing various blocks of Kupwara are taking part in the tournament, reflecting strong interest in organized sports activities among the youth.
The championship is being held under the supervision of Director General Youth Service and Sports Anuradha Gupta, and District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kupwara Nazir Ahmad Bhat.
The championship is being held under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K.
The event was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kupwara Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad in presence of senior officials from the Youth Services and Sports Department.
In the opening match, Block Ramhal faced Block Trehgam in an energetic contest. Block Ramhal registered a convincing 3–1 victory to move ahead in the competition.
Officials said the tournament will continue over the next few days, providing a competitive platform for young athletes.
The Volleyball Championship will be followed by district-level Cricket and Football competitions, aimed at strengthening structured youth engagement and promoting physical fitness across Kupwara, an official said.
