Srinagar: The crescent for Ramadan has been sighted, and the month of fasting will begin tomorrow (Thursday), Grand Mufti of J&K Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi said on Wednesday evening.
Talking to news agency GNS, Mufti Nasir said his office received credible reports of the crescent sighting from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. “After consultations with scholars from various schools of thought, it is announced that Ramadan begins tomorrow,” he said.
He urged people to remember the poor and disadvantaged and extend help to them to seek the pleasure of Almighty Allah during this blessed month.
