Srinagar, Feb 17: A one-day environmental awareness workshop was organised by the Green School Eco-Club of Government Higher Secondary School Kothibagh, Srinagar, with the Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) as the Chief Guest.
The programme commenced within the school campus, where the Chairman interacted with students and spoke about the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
During the session, a presentation highlighted NLCO’s Mission Ehsaas and its on-ground work in restoring urban lakes, reviving natural springs, and carrying out plantation drives across Srinagar and adjoining areas. Students showed keen interest and expressed appreciation for the conservation initiatives undertaken by NLCO.
As part of the workshop, students were taken on an educational field visit to key water conservation sites at Khushalsar and Gilsar, where they observed firsthand the restoration efforts under Mission Ehsaas and were briefed about the revival work carried out on these twin urban lakes. They also visited Wantpora Spring, restored by NLCO, to understand the significance of spring rejuvenation and community responsibility in protecting vital water sources.
The NLCO Chairman described the programme as a unique and meaningful initiative that effectively combined classroom learning with practical field exposure.
