SSP Ramban chairs crime review meeting, stresses speedy investigations

Ramban, Feb 15: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban chaired a crime review meeting to assess the progress of under investigations and set policing targets for 2026, officials said.

The SSP directed officers to ensure timely disposal of cases, with special focus on NDPS and UAPA cases, and stressed strict action against drug traffickers and other organised criminals.

During the meeting, all pending cases were reviewed threadbare with specific emphasis on their timely disposal strictly on merits and within prescribed timelines.

The SSP directed officers to ensure expeditious investigation, close supervision and quality prosecution to secure effective outcomes.

The SSP stressed the need for robust preventive action against organised criminals, particularly drug traffickers, bovine smuggling syndicates, and those involved in crimes against property. Strong directions were also issued to deal firmly with offenders involved in crimes against women and girl children.

Road safety was another key agenda item. The SSP emphasised strict enforcement measures and called for effective coordination with agencies responsible for road maintenance, including the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Public Works Department (PWD) and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), to implement corrective measures on vulnerable stretches.

The deliberations also focused on strengthening the intelligence generation mechanism at every level of the hierarchy and maintaining synergy with stakeholders, including armed forces and intelligence agencies. Officers were exhorted to intensify efforts to build and strengthen public trust through proactive policing initiatives.

The meeting also reviewed the ongoing drive to trace and identify illegal immigrants in the district. Additionally, implementation and enforcement of the three newly enacted criminal laws were discussed, with directions issued to ensure thorough understanding and compliance at all levels.

The meeting was attended by the Additional SP Ramban, DySP Headquarters Ramban, SDPO Banihal, SDPO Gool, DySP DAR Ramban, DySP SOG Ramban, the Prosecuting Officer, and all SHOs and In-charge Police Posts of District Ramban.
