
SRINAGAR: Traffic Police in Anantnag district of South Kashmir have initiated legal action against four youths for riding a scooty in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, officials said on Saturday.
According to officials, a complaint was received that a scooty bearing registration number JK03M-8619 was seen moving around the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag with four persons onboard, none wearing helmets.
Acting under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh, teams led by DySP Traffic Mohammad Aslam and DTI Javid traced the violators and booked them under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police said the boys were counselled along with their parents regarding the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic regulations. They were warned against repeating such violations in the future.
Officials added that the action forms part of an ongoing drive by Traffic Rural Kashmir to strengthen enforcement and promote traffic awareness to ensure public safety on roads. [KNT]
