SRINAGAR: In view of the prevailing weather advisory and forecasts predicting heavy rain and snowfall across the Valley, the Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Sunday issued an advisory regulating vehicular movement on hilly roads.
According to the advisory issued by the Traffic Police Rural Kashmir, movement on hilly routes will be permitted strictly as per the prescribed cut-off timings and traffic advisories. Motorists have been advised to confirm travel timings before commencing their journey by contacting the Traffic Police Control Room (TPCR) Kashmir.
The advisory further states that vehicles without proper anti-skid mechanisms will not be allowed on hilly roads, including Tangmarg–Gulmarg, Kangan–Sonamarg or beyond, Sinthan–Kishtwar, Pahalgam Road, Mughal Road, Kupwara border roads and the Gurez–Bandipora road, if these routes remain open for traffic.
Motorists have also been asked to ensure that anti-skid equipment is fitted before starting their journey. To avoid congestion and traffic jams at holding areas, only registered anti-skid chain vendors will be permitted to fix chains at designated locations.
