Srinagar–Jammu NH open for 2-way traffic today

Ramban, Dec 20: Srinagar–Jammu National Highway (NH-44) will remain open for two-way traffic on Sunday, officials said, but commuters have been advised to check road conditions before travelling amid a snowfall and rainfall forecast over the coming days.

Officials said that, if weather conditions remain favourable, light motor vehicles (LMVs), passenger vehicles, HPSVs, private cars and heavy motor vehicles carrying goods will be allowed to ply from both Jammu and Srinagar sides on Sunday.

However, in view of an inclement weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, predicting snowfall and rainfall over the next few days, commuters have been advised to plan their journeys cautiously. Travelers have been urged to confirm the latest road status from Traffic Control Units (TCUs) at Srinagar, Ramban and Jammu, as well as from the official Twitter and Facebook handles of the J&K Traffic Police, before commencing their journey.

Official said that the highway remained open for two-way movement of light, medium and heavy motor vehicles on Saturday.

Authorities also urged drivers to maintain lane discipline, warning that overtaking and wrong-lane driving could lead to traffic congestion and delays on the busy highway.
