Kupwara, Nov 27: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, through the Passport Office Srinagar, on Thursday launched a two-day Passport Mobile Van Camp in Kupwara, aiming to streamline access to passport services for residents of the remote border district. The camp will operate from November 27 to 28, 2025.
The mobile Van Camp has been deployed to offer on-the-spot services including fresh passport applications, renewals, document verification, and biometric enrolment.
Talking to Alfaaz – The Words, on the sidelines of the camp, Regional Passport Officer Bhagwan Singh Rawat, said the public response on the opening day has been overwhelmingly positive. “The initiative is designed to reduce the travel burden on people who otherwise have to visit Srinagar for routine passport procedures,” Rawat said.
Residents said that the camp has significantly eased the process, making it faster, accessible, and hassle-free for students, first-time applicants, and elderly citizens.
“We often struggle to travel to Srinagar for passport work. This initiative has saved us both time and money,” said a local resident and applicant.
