SRINAGAR: Police in central kashmir’s Ganderbal district have initiated action against 14 individuals for misusing social media platforms, police said.
The move comes as part of a continued effort to curb misinformation, provocative content, and irresponsible online behaviour. Monitoring of mobile devices revealed multiple instances of content deemed misleading, defamatory, capable of disturbing public order, or in violation of cyber regulations.
Those held accountable include Imtiyaz Ahmad Saad, Yaqoob Ahmad Dandroo, Arbaaz Irshad, Sajad Ahmad Lone, Danish Ahmad Ganie, among others. The police emphasised that social media must be used responsibly, warning that spreading fake news, inciting communal sentiments, glorifying anti-national elements, or causing public panic will attract strict legal action.
Police have urged citizens to verify information before sharing, report suspicious or harmful content, and follow official guidelines. Ganderbal Police stated it remains committed to maintaining a safe digital environment and will continue monitoring online activity to prevent misuse.
