SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora on Thursday attached the residential property of a separatist affiliated with the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, acting on court orders in a case linked to unlawful activities.

Officials said the action was carried out against Mohd Yaqoob Sheikh, son of Abdul Salam Sheikh, a resident of Namblabal Pampore who is currently based in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK). The attached property includes a residential house along with four marlas of land under Survey No. 4008.

The attachment order was issued by the Additional Sessions Court Pulwama, designated as a Special Court under the NIA Act, in connection with FIR No. 24/2024 registered at Police Station Pampore under Sections 121 and 121A of the IPC and Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Police said the action forms part of ongoing measures to disrupt secessionist networks and prevent activities deemed a threat to national security. The operation was conducted after obtaining all necessary legal approvals.

Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated that strict action will continue against individuals and entities involved in activities harmful to the sovereignty and peace of the region.
