
SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district arrested six individuals for gambling and seized stake money along with playing cards during a raid in Gadoora area
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the spot where the suspects were found gambling. On seeing the police, the gamblers attempted to flee, but were swiftly apprehended. The police recovered stake money amounting to Rs 30,520 and a set of playing cards from their possession.
The arrested persons were identified as Ajaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, resident of Ellahibagh Rangpora Srinagar; Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Zaina Kadal Srinagar; Tariq Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Ellahibagh Srinagar; Adil Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Ashraf, resident of Ellahibagh Rangpora Srinagar; Altaf Ahmad Kondu, son of Ghulam Mohammad Kondu, resident of Buchpora Soura; and Mushtaq Ahmad Malla, son of Abdul Aziz Malla, resident of Anchar Soura.
A case under FIR No. 179/2025 has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal under the relevant provisions of the Gambling Act. Further investigation is underway.
Police said they remain committed to eradicating social crimes from society and urged the public to refrain from engaging in unlawful activities and to cooperate in curbing such offences.
