
Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that, in continuation of sustained action against elements involved in disrupting a recent student protest at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sopore, five more miscreants have been arrested during night-long raids.
In a statement, police said the accused had infiltrated a peaceful protest by students and triggered law and order disturbances, including acts of vandalism that resulted in damage to public property. Sopore Police, the statement added, are continuing swift and targeted action against all those involved.
Police further said that 13 more miscreants have been identified and efforts are underway to apprehend them at the earliest. “Raids and search operations shall continue till all such elements are brought to justice,” the statement said.
Reiterating its resolve, Sopore Police said it will not allow any individual to exploit sensitive situations to disturb public peace. “All those involved in creating disorder will face firm and lawful action, and no one will be spared,” the statement added.
Police also appreciated the continued cooperation and support of Sopore residents in maintaining peace and order, urging citizens to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement agencies.
“Sopore Police, in coordination with peace-loving citizens, remain committed to maintaining peace, security and normalcy across the district,” the statement further added.
