Under-construction bridge collapses in Bantalab Jammu; five labourers trapped

Jammu, May 01: Four to five labourers were feared trapped after an old small bridge undergoing renovation collapsed in Thather area of Bantalab in Jammu outskirts on Friday.  

Eye witnesses stated that at the time of mishap, several labourers were engaged in construction activities, creating a chaos-like situation.

Police and civil administration immediately reached the spot and started the rescue operation. JCB and other machines were being used in rescue operation. Locals were also part of the rescue operation.

The administration has initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of collapse.
