Rajouri, Mar 18: The traffic on the Mughal Road was hit as several areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts witnessed light to moderate rainfall since Wednesday morning, increasing cold wave.

The upper reaches also experienced fresh snowfall, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature and intensifying cold conditions across both districts.

The inclement weather affected vehicular movement on the Mughal Road, a key link connecting Rajouri and Poonch districts of Pir Panjal region with south Kashmir.

The road was initially closed on Wednesday morning following snowfall in higher reaches, particularly near Pir Ki Gali.

However, authorities managed to restore traffic movement by the afternoon after clearance operations, officials said.

Later in the evening, fresh snowfall once again led to the closure of the road, disrupting movement of vehicles, they said.

Officials advised commuters to remain cautious and follow weather advisories, as the situation remains subject to prevailing weather conditions.
