SRINAGAR: Tihar Jail authorities on Friday refuted widespread social media rumours about the deteriorating health of jailed separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, stating that he is stable and undergoing proper medical treatment at Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi.
Officials clarified that Shah, son of Ghulam Ahmad Shah, was provided all necessary medical attention and was referred to Safdarjung Hospital on June 26, 2025, for OPD consultation regarding lower urinary tract symptoms.
“He was admitted for further tests and evaluation. All his reports have been found to be normal, and appropriate medical treatment is being provided to him,” the statement read. The Delhi Prisons Department, however, maintained that the inmate is being regularly monitored and his condition remains non-critical.
Shabir Ahmad Shah has been incarcerated under various charges including terror funding and has spent several years in detention.
