Srinagar: Kashmiri labourers stranded in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh due to continuous rains and landslides received timely relief on Thursday after coordinated efforts by J&K Peoples Conference President and Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone and senior Congress leader Ghulam Ahmed Mir.

Lone first sounded the alarm on social media, highlighting the plight of workers from Kupwara and Kangan and warning of possible casualties if urgent help was not extended. His appeal drew the attention of Congress leader Ghulam Ahmed Mir, who immediately flagged the matter to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Following Mir’s intervention, the Himachal Pradesh government sought details about the stranded labourers. Mir contacted Lone directly, gathered the required information, and conveyed it to the concerned authorities, leading to swift ground action.

Expressing his gratitude, Lone said that Ghulam Ahmed Mir’s prompt response and coordination with Chief Minister Sukhu ensured that relief reached the Kashmiri labourers without delay.
