SRINAGAR: Search operations were resumed on Saturday at Budshah Bridge in Srinagar to trace a man who reportedly jumped into the River Jhelum earlier this week.

Officials said the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Quick Reaction Team (QRT) Jhelum, along with River Police, continued the operation in coordination with MARCOS personnel to locate and retrieve the missing person, identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar of Bemina Hamdaniya Colony, Srinagar.

According to officials, Dar allegedly jumped into the River Jhelum on May 20, 2026, prompting an immediate search effort which has been ongoing since then. Despite extensive efforts, he has not yet been traced.

Search teams have intensified operations in and around the Budshah Bridge stretch, with river currents and visibility conditions continuing to pose challenges.

Further updates are awaited as the operation continues.
