SRINAGAR: Police in awantipora area on Wednesday attached a double-storey residential house worth approximately Rs 1.20 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in Pampore as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The property, owned by Manzoor Mir alias Mann Tiger of Kadlabal, Pampore, was attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after an enquiry by Police Station Pampore.

Police said the property was identified as illegally acquired and investigations revealed that it had allegedly been purchased using proceeds from the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

According to officials, the accused is involved in multiple FIRs related to drug trafficking and narcotics offences. The attached property was found to be linked to proceeds generated through the alleged illegal drug trade.

Police said the action forms part of a broader strategy to dismantle the financial networks of drug traffickers by targeting assets created through proceeds of crime. Officials described the move as a step towards strengthening efforts to combat the drug menace and promote a drug-free society.

The police added that the initiative has received appreciation from local residents, who viewed it as a significant measure to curb narcotics trafficking and protect youth from drug abuse.
